Well, ladies and gentlemen, that’s it for 2016! This past week, we watched the final seven episodes of our full and half season shows (Anohana and Shinsekai Yori, for those of you living under a rock) and voted on your shows for Spring 2017.
And here it is! Your Spring 2017 shows are:
My Hero Academia!
Mob Psycho 100!
And Space Dandy!
We’ll be watching MHA and MP100 for half of the Spring each, and Space Dandy for the full season. As always, we hope to see you next time. Also, don’t forget to come by our unofficial meeting on Thursday!
Good afternoon, guys, gals, ghosts, and ghouls!
Last Thursday, we held our annual Gator Anime Halloween celebration. Festivities were held, food was gorged upon and spooky scary anime was watched!
Our lovely spread included tons of pizza, cupcakes, fudge, and cookies of all varieties. We ran out of plates easily within 30 seconds of the meeting starting, though!
Our annual costume contest concluded with Leslie Blakely, dressed as Korra from The Legend of Korra, taking 1st prize!
For our spooky shows, we watched Shiki, Devil May Cry, Soul Eater, and of course, Ghost Stories!!
All in all, the Halloween party was lots of fun! If you’d like to check out pictures of the event, come by our Facebook group!
Here’s this week’s meeting summary!
Last week, we had the Swampcon general staff in to put on a presentation on volunteering for Swampcon! We talked about the convention, panels, and how people can get involved. The Vocaloid staff also gave a presentation on how people can join their club!
Our Member’s Choice, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, was selected by the officers for this week. Moving forward, we’re going to use a random lottery system to pick out a Member’s Choice each week, so keep coming by club if you want your suggestion included.
Additionally, we watched episodes 3-4 of Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun and Shinsekai Yori.
Keep coming by club, everyone! And check our Facebook group and Twitter for more
Hope to see you soon,
Hey everyone! Sorry for the wait, but here’s our first Meeting Summary of the 2016-2017 year!
Last Thursday was our rain-checked first official meeting of the year. We had plenty of pizza (read: not enough pizza, there’s never enough pizza) and had lots of fun introducing ourselves to the new members. A big chunk of the meeting was taken up by our introductory panel, where we showed off your fabulous 2016-2017 officers – including your dashingly handsome social media coordinator (hey, that’s me!) – and talked about the year moving forward. We also introduced our new members to some of the Whosical and Maid Cafe staff, who talked about their respective productions and how our members can help. After that, we put on a “Guess that Anime” panel where we gave out candy and free Lolicup to people who guessed correctly!
For our weekly shows, we watched episodes 1-2 of Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun and Shinsekai Yori.
Keep checking our Facebook page for more info about future meetings and events. Also, check out our Twitter (PLEASE! WE NEED MORE FOLLOWERS!), @Gator_Anime for memes and funposting! By the way, attendees of the next meeting will be able to enter in a random drawing for member’s choice, so be sure to come by!
That’s it for this week. This is Harrison Tancer, signing off. See you next week, and stay classy, Gator Anime. Good night, good luck, and be well. (I can’t think of a good signing off phrase, help!)
Last Thursday was our final meeting of the semester! We had an unofficial get together starting around 11 AM with some video games brought in by the members and officers. Then, at 7 PM, we put on some rad anime. We watched episodes from some of our half-season runner ups to the anime voting from the week before, Mononoke and Erased. We also watched a few OVAs from our two half-season shows this semester, Hozuki no Reitetsu and One-Punch Man. There was a nice spread of goodies to eat as well!
Being it the last meeting of the Spring semester, this will be the last of my posts as Media Coordinator of the club. It has been a good year, and I’m glad I was able to serve the club in this way. Even though I wasn’t able to attend most of the meetings this semester, I still felt involved being able to write about the meetings and participate in discussions on the Facebook page. Thanks to everyone who read the summaries! 🙂
Also, a shout out to our graduating seniors! These are some of the people who have been in Gator Anime since their first years in college and have made it what it is today. You all rock!
Oh, and look out on the Facebook page for announcements about Summer meetings! Meetings during the Summer are quite free-form and fun. If you are in town, make sure to drop on by!
See you all later!
Hello Gator Anime!
Last week’s meeting was our last official meeting of the semester! Make sure you check out the Facebook page for info on our upcoming “unofficial” meeting (which will truly be the last meeting of the spring semester)
We opened up with voting for the next fall semester’s anime. There were some close calls, but in the end, the victors were Anohana (Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Boku-tachi wa Mada Shiranai or Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day) and Gekkan Shojou Nozaki-kun for our two half seasons and Shin Sekai Yori (or From the New World) for our full season
For member’s choice, we watched some of Osamu Tezuka’s famous and historic Astro Boy. We also watched the final episodes 11-13 of Hozuki no Reitetsu and the final episode 13 of Katanagatari
See you around!
Hey there Gator Anime!
Last meeting, we had our elections for club officer positions! The competition was fierce, and we had a record number of people running for positions this year. The results for the 2016-2017 officers are as follows:
President: Max Dunevitz
Vice President: Lucas Azoto
Media Coordinator: Harrison Tancer
Secretary: Jo Furmanek
Historian: Rebecca Hammell
Treasurer: Scott Lathikhone Rattana
After elections, we watched Servant x Service for member’s choice. We also watched episodes 9 and 10 of Hozuki no Reitetsu and Episode 11 of Katanagatari
Also in recent news, our Lake Wauburg trip was last Saturday! There was an amazing turnout, great food, and excellent weather. All-in-all, it was a wonderful trip
Lastly, make sure to vote in the Facebook polls for what anime we will watch come the Fall semester! The polls will close by this Thursday, at which time we will vote as a club on the top contestants. Here are the links you need:
Servant x Service
Last meeting was good fun as always 🙂 We opened up with a really bad panel. That is, a really bad anime review panel! From what I heard, shows were torn apart, feelings were crushed, friendships were ruined… a lot of fun basically. For member’s choice, we watched Saint☆Oniisan, the only anime that has more religious connotations that Evangelion and Death Parade combined
After our break, we watched episodes 7 and 8 of Hozuki no Reitetsu and episode 10 of Katanagatari
Also, applications for officer positions closed last Thursday at 11 PM! Elections will be at the forthcoming meeting. Watch the Facebook Page for updates and more info!
Max Dunevitz, signing out
Last meeting opened with a panel by member Jo Furmanek on the cultural influences and references in the anime/manga series Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. For member’s choice, we watched Monster, a mystery/thriller anime produced by Madhouse (also producers of One Punch Man and Death Parade, from this and last semester)
For our main series, we watched episodes 5 and 6 of Hozuki no Reitetsu and episode 9 of Katanagatari
Be sure to check out the Facebook page for information on officer positions and elections! Elections will be the 7th of April and the deadline to apply for a position is this Thursday at 11 PM
Last meeting we opened up with a panel on running for Gator Anime officer positions. Elections will be coming up soon, stay tuned to our Facebook page for more info!
For member’s choice, we watched Prince of Strides Alternative. We also watched the first few episodes of our second half season anime, Hozuki no Reitetsu and episode 7 of Katanagatari
